The War and Peace Readalong: Week Two

Okay okay, I'm already behind schedule.  I planned on catching up over the weekend, but I went to Chicago instead and so now I have nothing new to add.  However, I will be updating this post over the week as I go into a reading frenzy, so it's just a placeholder/excuses pages until I'm actually done reading!

1) Do you feel that the tone of the novel has changed this week? Has that affected your enjoyment?

2) Do you feel comfortable telling other people that you're reading War & Peace?
I'm sure that people will think I'm a pretentious hipster for reading War & Peace, but WHO CARES.  I'm enjoying the story so far, and that's all that matters.  I'm comfortable telling others that I'm reading War & Peace because I've received positive and supportive responses!

3) How do you feel about Helene and Pierre's marriage? Happily ever after or mildly doomed?

4) Should Marya have married Anatole or should she have stayed at home with her Father?

5) Andrei has featured in a lot of the war-related chapters so far. Do you think he'll ever make it to military greatness?

  1. Same here - hoping to catch up and take it easy at home the next few days. It's too cold to go out anyway!

  5. Haha, I wouldn't worry - weirdly it seems that almost all of us were behind last week! Something in the air perhaps :p

I've only received supportive responses so far as well, but I was mildly concerned that people would interpret my reading choice as pretentious. You're right though, WHO CARES :D
