Ninja Book Swap!

My secret ninja book swapper turned out to be Bernadette from The Bumbling Bookworm!

What I love about the Ninja Book Swap:

1) getting parcels from other parts of the world (like Australia! How cool is that?!... and ooh, their stamps are different)
2) receiving new books I've always wanted to read but haven't gotten around to buying
3) the spontaneous gift, often involving snacks/chocolate I have never seen in the states
4) the heartfelt note from a fellow bibliophile
5) meeting a blogger I've never heard of before but now I have a new book-friend!

Bernadette hit 5/5.  A+, new friend!  I am excited to try the different teas, and the weather's gotten so cold and dreary that this is the perfect timing!  Cadbury dairy milk - why is this not in my supermarket?!  I am trying to savor it but I have no self control when it comes to good chocolate.  The postcard is adorable; I plan on using it as a bookmark for Looking for Alaska, which is the first book I plan on reading. Yes, I was a little lukewarm to The Fault In Our Stars, but I've heard great things on this one and people have been telling me that they love it/look forward to reading it as well, which is always a good sign when embarking on a new book.

Thanks, Bumbling Bookworm! :)

  1. Woooo gifts! I got a gift from Bernadette at the last swap (or the one before that perhaps?) and she's brilliant. Enjoy the Cadbury, if you need more let me know. I can be your chocolate connection!

I just finished and reviewed Looking for Alaska, I really liked it but I think my review ended up quite critical. haha.

  2. You're the second person I know who received Looking For Alaska in the Ninja Book Swap. Very cool! I'm quite envious. How does one because a ninja book swapper?

Have fun with your splendid gift packet. It looks great!

  3. Emily - it's very easy to be a ninja book swapper! Just click on the link in my blog entry above for more info. There are usually 2 swaps a year, and if you follow the twitter account, they'll notify you when it's time to sign up! We swap 1-2 books from our assigned swapper's wish list, write a note, and add some goodies from their list of "likes". (we fill out a form with all this stuff prior). There will be one in the spring, so you'll have your chance!

  4. OMG Cadbury milk dairy, where have you been all my life.
I can't wait to read your review, but I'm not sure if I should launch into the book first and then read your review so my mind is tabla rasa going into it!

  5. I can't believe you don't have Cadbury chocolate in the states! I always assumed it was American, like most things ;) I'm really struggling to get through An Abundance of Katerines, but I've heard really good things about Looking for Alaska!

  6. I'm sure we do, and I've just been looking in the wrong places. Cadbury UK makes and distributes Cadbury dairy milk around the world EXCEPT the US, where Hershey makes it. I also read on a blog that apparently they taste very different, and since distribution is limited, I'd have to find an import shop/world market to find the "legit" version ;)

Can't wait to read my book! Kayleigh already reviewed it, so I'm going to try to finish it this weekend so we can compare notes :)

  8. The internet is full of such nice people! *gives out internet hugs to everyone* Chocolate is my love-language.
I wish I didn't have to pay a 300% premium for European chocolate sometimes! Sure, we have tons of cheap American candy, but I'd prefer a simple bar of good chocolate.

I'm trying to save the remaining half of the bar so I can eat it while reading Looking for Alaska, but it's not looking good ;)

  10. I would definitely read the book first. I have my spoilers in a spoiler section, but it's a bit more of a discussion review so I'd love to hear what you think once you give the book a read!
