Dewey's 24-Hour Readathon, Part 3

Hour 9:
Reading: The Perks of Being a Wallflower, by Stephen Chbosky - COMPLETED
Eating: can't eat anymore, I'm stuffed!
Listening: Chris Tomlin, "King of Glory"
Thoughts: Bill for best teacher of the year award *sobs*

Favorite passages:
"So, this is my life.  And I want you to know that I am both happy and sad and I'm still trying to figure out how that could be."

"I guess we are who we are for a lot of reasons. And maybe we'll never know most of them. But even if we don't have the power to choose where we come from, we can still choose where we go from there. We can still do things. And we can try to feel okay about them.
I think that if I ever have kids, and they are upset, I won't tell them that people are starving in China or anything like that because it wouldn't change the fact that they were upset.  And even if somebody else has it much worse, that doesn't really change the fact that you have what you have. Good and bad."

"... believe that things are good with me, and even when they're not, they will be soon enough... and I will believe the same about you."

Hour 10:

Reading: The Thief Lord, by Cornelia Funke
Drinking: Early Grey with milk and sugar
Listening: The Beatles, "Til There Was You"
Challenge: A Shelfie (book selfie).  This is my magical floating shelf of books, because only magical books float, of course.

Hour 11:
Reading: The Thief Lord, by Cornelia Funke
Drinking: Juicy Juice Box
Listening: Rufus Wainwright, "Complainte De La Butte"
Thoughts: This book is warming me up for my trip to Venice this summer! I love how the author describes everything about the city, from the pigeons pecking seeds out of Victor's hands, to the delicious cakes being individually wrapped, and the narrow corridors and canals.
Challenge: First Edition identification

Hour 12:
Reading: The Thief Lord, by Cornelia Funke
Listening: "Briony", from Atonement Film Original Soundtrack
Thoughts: I should't have been surprised, but I got to the fantasy/magic part of the book.  Scipio, don't waste your youth!

Comments

  1. I think hour 9 must really be food saturation point because I was SO FULL by then too. And I still am. Ugh, sugar...

    MAGICAL FLOATING BOOKS ARE MAGIC.
